A fascinating study shows that female supervisors are more than twice as likely to have been sexually harassed as female non-supervisors.
The study’s primary investigator observes, “This study provides the strongest evidence to date supporting the theory that sexual harassment is less about sexual desire than about control and domination. . . . Male co-workers, clients and supervisors seem to be using harassment as an equalizer against women in power.”
Seems like a solid conclusion to me as to much of the harassing conduct out there, although I suspect there is no one explanation for all harassing conduct.
Here’s one article about the study.
